I have encountered these kids slowly getting out of the way of my car on Mansion Street. They could benefit from a Talking-to!

If kids areout wandering after dark and sitting in the street, perhaps a call to DCF is warranted. Where do they live?

Parents are Watching the children . All aware of them riding scooters on their street. Mansion is a tiny side street maybe people who don't l I've on that street should not use it and of you feel you must slow down...how many times have I seen people speed down these streets like they are driving the indy 500

I've seen these boys also. Its not that I am speeding and then they just show up it is that they are provoking cars to come to a stop in front of them. they're just kids being a nuisance.

Where do they live? Call the Sergeant and call DCF or post the number and let others call before there is a tragedy.

Thanks all for suggestions. I have notified Sgt. Anastasio; I don't know the address of the parents. I mostly posted so other neighbors can be aware. I drive very slowly, and agree that the children are being deliberately provacative. FYI, "parents are watching" I have had this problem on Parker, Mansion and Florence. It would be hard to avoid all these streets!

These kids are just being kids..they are not hurting anyone..

These poor kids have nowhere to go in their own neighborhood. They are in their own neighborhoods riding push scooters and skateboard. They have no park to go to. Fishing and swimming at the seawall which I did as a kid is now prohibited. Staying in and playing video games has been done this past long and cold winter. Rather than trying to get the kids back under house arrest. I invite Sargent XXXX to sit on my front porch and watch all you racers speed down Parker Place Raceway and make your 2 wheel white knuckle turn onto Mansion St. ?.This is a NEIGHBORHOOD Side street. ?SLOW DOWN CHILDREN PLAYING?. How?s that for an interesting concept?

Lived on Parker for 50 years. Never saw so many speeders as I have since Frankie Juliano got killed on his MC on the corner of Townsend and Parker. Hence the stupid stop sign. It seems since that time Parker is a cut through rather than an avenue for locals to get to their home. I welcome making it 1 way from Concord up to Townsend and cut the race traffic in half. If everyone is so concerned about KIDS in the streets I advise them to turn their attention to Fair Haven and tbe Hill section where those kids are riding Dirt Bikes and Quads on the streets not push scooters and skateboards. Bottom line is the cars must yield to someone in the street. Or watch out for the Big Bad Scooter Gang.

Playing in the middle of the street and not moving for cars is not "kids being kids". These roads are dangerous and drivers are careless and distracted. People are concerned for these kids. If the parents don't care enough; let them get hit and hopefully no other driver gets hurt with them.

How/when did it get forgotten that streets are made primarily for vehicular traffic? Kids can play in the street, but they need to be taught to respect a vehicle's right of way and get out of the way. Good parents teach their kids this--for their kids' safety. A cop should not need to intervene...

I raised this issue because I was really concerned that a child would be hurt in a tragic accident. Even a careful driver can have trouble seeing a child sitting in the street, below the level of the windshield. I hoped this could be a forum that we could use to improve safety and quality of life in the neighborhood. Instead, it seems to have raised divisiveness and antagonism. This itself is a tragedy. I am logging off of this discussion, but I am not signing out. And ssmith, I don't think you can close an issue that you didn't raise, because this one is wide open.

I have lived on Parker and Townsend over 45 years. I think the problem is that kids have no place to gather and be kids. This is not a matter for DCF. I live on Parker Pl I am a mandated reporter, this is why DCF can not deal with issues that need dealing with, like neglected abused children. People need to learn the difference. Now talking about calling DCF look in the mirror any one going over the speed limit down Parker Place or does not stop at the stop sign fully with a child in your car is that a reason to call DCF on you ? Come on people. I think community like Morris Cove should stick together like it once did.

Thanks for your concern Amanda all children involved have been spoken to. This is really not appropriate for people to assume children are being neglected no need to pull the dcf card I to it. The children involved are all well taken care of. I think it is a matter of the kids just trying to act cool...they know right from wrong. Will be keeping an eye out!

As for the Cove being such a close-knit community- I don't know which Cove you speak of but it is not this one. I know this one well. Morris Cove has never worked together or been close-knit. That's part of the reason why we are in the mess we are in now. The very fact that people feel the need to use this forum, rather than speak to the children or to their parents is evidence of what it is like here. Should we be close-knit? Absolutely. I have always wished it to be so but it never was and is not now. Could it change? I had hoped that an influx of new people might have effected some change but it has been minimal. Should we strive for that? Absolutely. This is a forum to turn to for help. If you don't want to hear replies from people that you don't like; don't ask the question publically. Change in the Cove is what I'd like to see and am asking for help with but a bunch of strangers sniping at each other for asking and offering help is not the right way. And that's from THIS lifelong Cove resident--- 58 years.

I agree TAMC back years ago we were a close knit community, we did know each other and each others children, mischievous children or well behaved to put in better terms. I believe this started over someone not liking someone and a i will show you. What needs to be addressed is the drug sales in the corner of Parker and Townsend and the thrash and empty drug bags left behing also empty beer bottles
everbemorning I have to clean up. That is an issue.
