This crossing is an accident waiting to happen. People are going to the extreme right side of the road on the shoulder to avoid the deeper holes and ruts in the traffic lane. The speed limit is 50 mph. on this section of Bordentown Ave. in Sayreville. Any driver who is not aware of this problem would hit the deeply erroded rail crossing at least 50 or more.
A blown tire or broken tie rod and loss of control would be the results. The intersection of Jernee Mill Rd. & Bordentown Ave is very busy at rush hour with a great deal of tractor trailer traffic and school vehicles.
This spot is brutal. It's difficult to believe it's been allowed to remain like this for as long as it has. Whoever is responsible for this spot needs to address it before someone's car is destroyed or someone gets injured. It's inexcusable to have a hazard like this on such a busy, heavily-used road.
They repaved bordentown ave and this issue still exists. They need to use the iron plates where the tracks cross the road. The town should be responsible for all damages incurred by this unacceptable RxR crossing. Cars swerve into oncoming traffic to try to avoid this! MUST BE FIXED!
Both Bordentown Ave. and Jernee Mill Road are County Road. There is a County Road Department facility a few hundred feet down Jernee Mill. I guess they can't see it from there. They will probably just blame Conrail. And drive through that area on a school day. Have you ever noticed the number of School buses that cross those tracks each day. It sure makes me think the county doesn't care about our kids either.
I spoke to a conrail engineer today, she informed me that the dot is responisible for the repairs of the road around the tracks & the repairs are in scheduling. hopefully soon.
There was a survey crew out around this intersection most of today. I was through there 4 times today and they were doing measurements all around the intersection. We can only hope.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for fixing this big problem. It is now a pleasure to drive over these railroad tracks without swerving and avoiding others who are swerving to miss the big potholes! God bless you!
