The police department was using the timing of the lights to walk through stopped traffic picking out inspection tag and registration violators and then having them pull over multiple lanes of traffic into the Race Trac to issue citations. One might call this "Cherry picking."

the reason folks run this light is b/c if you're on Regent, crossing Beltline, the light is green long enough for only 3 cars to go through. When it's lunch time...u're in a hurry - 3 cars then yellow is ridiculous.
