agree with this from Waverly street. They are not only frequent they are extremely low. The flight path is suppose to be over 139 from Kearny to Manhattan. They are flying over this Heights neighborhood. If you download the Flighttracker app you can see they are are as low as 300' or lower in our neighborhood - they are suppose to be 500' and over 139

Yes, it's very disturbing for us at St Paul's and Baldwin. It seems to have started up just this week and they fly very low.

On Beacon they are flying low enough that they rattle our windows and set off car alarms. It seems to get worse every week.

Its most likely Flynyon which give helicopter tours of nyc. They are located in Kearny NJ and fly over JC.

Agreed. On palisade by Christ Hospital. Way more helicopters than usual and flying very low. The constant noise is a quality of life issue.

***NOISE POLLUTION*** These low flying helicopters are unacceptable. You can no longer enjoy an open window when the air is cool due to the constant helicopters flying very low over Grove & 14th Streets. They come from NYC, fly over Hoboken Train Station, up 139 West, then make a right turn around Kennedy Blvd. // Route 1/9 North. It goes both ways from & to NYC, at times the helicopters meet as shown in the photo below.

Around 2pm today a helicopter flew over Pershing field at approximately 150 feet above street
Elevation. This was registered on Flighttrader app. Helicopter registration #N216MH

These helicopters are horrible. They are flying so low they are vibrating my building

Hi according to the article link below, if the helicopters are causing a safety issue then we have to file a complaint with FAA. They will not address any noise complaint.

Is there an app that can tell me how low a helicopter is flying? If so, then we can use that as a back up as a potential danger.

You can call his JC office at 201-309-0301 and leave a comment. They said I was the first to do so since 2013.

@kreetika Thanks for the article. I’ve already emailed the FAA. Their response is that they don’t regulate helicopters, only airplanes. I’ve emailed Ward E Councilman James Solomon, and he advised me of the task force he is on but no details on this current situation. I’ve emailed Congressman Sires, but no reply yet. Who regulates this and why don’t we have a say? More people need to speak up.

The helicoptors fly so low that my 2 story house vibrates every 10-15 minutes. There's no way it's legal for them to fly so low over a residential area.

Well--it is now September and the problem is no better. Sometimes every 3-5 minutes we are bombarded by another one of these. I am in the western slope part of the heights...and this is terrible. I feel like there is some sort of emergency--this sets off my alarm bells--wondering what is WRONG?

What happened to fewer helicoptors in September? The red ones are so low today I can read the writing on the bottom as they go by. Directly over a residential area- Palisade Ave/Baldwin/Waverly. There's one right now as I'm typing this.

Here's a photo of a helicoptor flying below 300 feet elevation over residential streets in the Heights on Saturday. The date, speed, elevation and reg ID of the flight are all recorded with the free FlightRadar24 app. They are primarily tourist flights. We really need that Federal Helicoptor Safety Act.

I was driving home on the Pulaski Skyway on Saturday afternoon and two separate helicopters came so close to the roadway I thought their blades would hit the light poles. They were way too close for safety. There was no useful reason for this--no need to see an accident, no traffic--just no reason to get so close. Just showboating for tourists. If there had been a big gust of wind....there could have been a disaster. There is going to be a REAL accident with one of these--and maybe after that we will see some local regulations put in place.

I believe they have a waiver for the 500/1000 rule because of proximity to EWR flight paths.

Has anyone tried to file FOIA with FAA for any waivers over JC issued in recent years?

Everyone complaining here should also call/email their city council person. Helicopters have unique IDs on them (sometimes on the tail, sometimes beneath the rotor) Noting them whenever possible will help.

Anyone bothered by the helicopters should email our congressman, Albio Sires. There is a campaign to reduce helicopter traffic and the more emails he gets, the better.
