Ya, i do work on Sunday, like lots and lots of other folks. I totally agree with the dump being open on Sunday....not sure if it will stop the dumping outside the dump, but I believe it would at least help with the situation.
its not possible...its expensive to run the landfill throughout the day....the little five dollar loads isnt going to cover the cost...you need the bigger companies (waste management) to be hauling on sundays to cover the cost
Who says it has to be fully staffed. At the same time being opened for 6 hours for one person to work the scale shouldn't cost that much. Maybe only be opened on Sundays in the summer? At the same time I believe the big cost at the Prince Albert landfill being open is the machinery driving around. Baling garbage would cost time/money/energy, however, I don't think they do bale it up because that mountain is just getting bigger. I think the real thing to be fixed is the size of the landfill in a town this size. Everything in this town has been short sighted, hopefully the dump will be improved upon before we have a literal garbage city.
Put a couple of summer students in there, it will help some of them with a few more hours a week, and give that service to the city's residence as well, cant hurt
The multimillion dollar baler building is not in operation and is now nothing more than an expensive staff lunch room. Its not a business, its a service so weather or not it makes any money if the public wants it open, it should be open...The arenas, water park and field house don't make any money but are still run as a service to the community. No different than the landfill really.
I have had to opportunity in the last 3 weeks to help Family move from Medicine Hat, Alberta back to PA, when we where at the Hat we had to take garbage out to there dump, I think that PA could take lesson's from that Area, a city that is biggar then PA and they have a vary clean garbage facility!!!!
LOL, sure why not...they are already open EVERY holiday of the year other than Christmas Day & New Years...I'm sure they have nothing better to do than be open on Sundays too ;-) They'd have to hire more people though which cost more, which means dump costs would go up.
And no, you can't leave the dump with nobody operating the machinery...somebody would inevitably dump stuff in the wrong place and the next thing you know, there would be a mountain of garbage to be moved on Monday morning. The garbage trucks roll in first thing Monday morning, so the garbage from Sunday would have to be cleared.
Definitely agree the baler should be opened again. I'm not sure what is up with that...we are filling that landfill WAY too fast...I don't know what they were thinking...oh yea...it was short term thinking ;-)
We live in Saskatoon but were in PA for 2 winters. Your dump is miles ahead of Saskatoon. In fact, your garbage removal in general is better. You have recycling bins at your homes that the city picks up, we do not. Your dump is far more organized and reasonably priced. Though there is always room for improvement, it could be worse!

recycling bins only get dropped at the dump anyways.
Sunday opening would be a great thing
Call the Union Office to complain. They are the reason the Dump is not open sundays
