No one has contacted anyone in our neighborhood concerning this issue. This is ridiculous. Part of the problem is that if you are driving through West Chester going East, you have approximately eight traffic lights with the last one being at Westtown Road. After most drivers pass through Westtown Road, they take off like a bat out of hell as the next traffic light isn't until Five Points Road. It makes it really dangerous for us to exit or enter the streets where are homes are located. I've had people honk their horns or make rude gestures because I am sitting there trying to enter my street. Something needs to be done.

Please keep this open. My husband did receive a phone call from West Goshen Township concerning this issue. Hopefully, we will hear something soon.

Please look into this issue. It is a real dangerous situation. I can't believe there are no turning lanes on this section of Route 3. It is also bad when trying to make a left hand turn onto North Concord Road from Route 3 when heading East. Drivers are going over the 35 MPH speed limit as they have just left West Chester and know there isn't another traffic light until Five Points Road. While travelling West on Rt. 3, to make a left hane turn into Chatwood is a nightmare. I live on Morris Road and it sometimes takes me 3 to 5 minutes just to make a left hand turn from my road onto Rt 3 to get to West Chester (where I work). Time to fix this before someone gets hurts or dies. The township needs to work with Penn Dot on this issue. I do know Rt. 3 is a state road.

No this issue hasn't even been addressed. I guess our little neighborhood doesn't count with the powers that be as we are an old established neighborhood with no "McMansions". If anyone in my family circle or friends is ever hurt in an accident on that stretch of road, you can be sure there will be a lawsuit. There is absolutely no excuse for this.

Also, there are speed limit signs of 35 MPH posted on this stretch of road but most peopel go faster, especially when travelling east as they have just come through West Chester with a traffic light at every corner. Most motorists know that once they hit Westtown Road there is not another traffic light until Five Points Road so they take off like its the Indy 500. We just can't win.

We haven't received even one phone call, letter, etc. about this issue. Why do we even pay taxes?

Our neighbor, who has a small child, requested a speed bump. Thankfully, he didn't get it as I think its uncalled for on MOrris Road. However, I cam home one day to find a 25 MPH sign in front of our house. It takes 25 MPH just to get to the top of the road as the road is so short. Why would this issued be addressed before the very dangerous one on Rt. 3? I realize Rt. 3 is a state road and Morris Road is a township road, but I can't believe that law enforcement can't see the dangerous situation on Rt. 3 for themselves. I think the township needs to work with PennDot to fix the situation.

Maybe everyone in the township government as well as the state government should just go to Washington and work from there. That's where the "do nothing" Congress sits and all of you guys would feel right at home there. Guess I'll have to call my state representative. Should have done so a long time ago.

I have a few concerns about the design of Rt3 eastbound an S. Concord Rd.
I know this is a Penndot issue, but I’d like to try and get something changed. I talked to Mr. LaLonde this morning and he suggested I write to the township.

I live in Chatwood, and I’m at 848 West Chester Pike, so my front is on W.C. Pike.

When I approach RT3 at S. Concord Rd (immediately under the blinking light), If I look to my left, at oncoming traffic going east, I am behind the white shoulder line, but to my right I am already in the decal lane of Rt3 and/or the accel lane to 202S.
Penndot needs start the exit to 202 S , past the intersection at S. Concord Rd.
There are 2 little league fields on S. Concord, and the only way to get the kids there is to use this intersection.

I’d (and other residents) would really like to have the blinking light turned into a permanent light.

Penndot has formulas for installation of signals, starting with the volume of traffic and the amount of accidents. I guarantee that intersection exceeds the numbers.

The alternate would be to at least add a cross-walk, but I think that would cause
pedestrian fatalities, since the traffic refused to slow at the blinking yellow (as per the motor vehicle code).

The rate of speed on Rt 3. It’s 35 mph, I know the police are out there, but somehow we need to get a handle on it. More enforcement? Do we have the resources?, probably not. The last thing I want is for Penndot to raise the limit, but since it’s posted at less than 45 mph, the township controls that. (that’s what I was told by Penndot). (The small orange triangles on the 35 mph speed limit signs, DO NOT work). How about better, bigger and more signage. Even posting the speed limit in paint on the road surface seems to attract attention. I know it draws my attention and I definitey see that when I am driving in other communities, that paint the speed limit on the road. You have my permission to add a bill board on my front lawn if it helps!

Of course I got a stupid answer, that a traffic light "would impede" traffic! Yes, you &^(#@# THAT"S WHAT WE WANT!!!!

The township drove down the road and they said the small 35 mph signs are plenty and big enough for people to see. I said you only see them because you are looking for them!

I think the people in Chatwood should get together and REALLY do something!

Hello Ann, hopefully you'll have better luck than me with this issue. I am genuinely afraid for my daughter who resides with me with her two young sons. My husband was hit in the rear trying to make a left hand turn onto Morris Road where we live. Luckily no one was hurt. He was stopped with his signal on and the car behind him passed him but the car behind that one didn't see my husband and slammed into him. He is very lucky that he wasn't pushed into the traffic travelling east. Maybe now they will address this issue. A red light at S. Concord Road would be great! I am willing to drive through the neighborhood to get to my house as long as I have a safe way into the neighborhood.

I don't know what it will take. I called the cops constantly about the speed of the car and trucks. They say they are there alot, I do see them, but they need a better presence and S. Concord needs a traffic light!

Does anyone know where the kid with the blue and white "rice rocket" lives in Chatwood? Yes, he's the one that races up and down RT3 and does wheelstands. I beleives he lives off Maple Ave.

I'm not sure who he is but I will ask my grandson if he knows this boy. I just don't want to see anyone else get hurt. I can't believe in this day and age and after all of this time, that nothing has been done. At the Penn Dot meeting about 10 years ago, the gentleman told us that there wasn't enough right of way for the turning lanes. If that is the case, then they should go with the traffic light. I've seen stop signs and lights put up where the situation doesn't seem half as dangerous. We'll see what happens.

Yes, I can't beleive most townships have lights everywhere! We have the highest accident rate in the township (according to West Goshen Police) and they still do nothing. We'll have to get together and see if we can get a petition or something going.

Thanks Ann. I have a few relatives who live in Chatwood who are also very concerned about this situation. I'll also see what I can do.

I just noticed that the street sign for Morris Road was struck all the way down again and a huge pine tree on my neighbors property was badly damaged. This is a deadly intersection and is located 3 blocks past Westtown Road travelling east. This is right where the motorists speed up as they have just left WC and know they don't have another light until Five Points Road. There is an accident at this intersection at least once a year. How much more proof do you need to realize we need a traffic light (not yellow blinking) on one of these streets leading into this neighborhood? C'mon people, do your jobs. It is all about safety, right?

Wow, West Goshen really cares about its taxpayers. I know this is also an issued for PennDot but West Goshen needs to step up to the bat and get the ball rolling on this.

Then the Chatwood residents need to get this issue re-visited. Start a petition? Go to township meetings? Contact Penndot? Does anyone know how to "fight city hall"? or even where to begin.

I agree. WWe did this about 15 years ago and we actually had the PennDot representative in tears, but that still wasn't enough to get any action on this. I'm with you.

A resident of Chatwood went to a township meeting and was basically told nothing can be done about these issues. Our lives and our children's lives are precious to us. We will not stop until this issue is addressed. I guess its time to get in touch with our State Reps. At least turn the traffic light on at S. Concord and Rt. 3 so we have a safe entrance and exit into our homes. West Goshen Township should be ashamed of themselves.

This week, there have been 3 accidents on West Chester Pike between Westtown Road and Five Points Road. So far, one person has died as a result. When is this issue going to be taken seriously? We need turning lanes and at least one light. The state and township need to get it together! Shameful

I just commented on this on FB. 4 accidents in under 2 weeks and one fatality. Yes, on this stretch of road. West Goshen Township and PenDot are shameless!
