Description
This dangerous and unnecessary fencing remains despite promises to remove and restore to a more historically relevant barrier around the Mint employee parking lot.
This is historic old city not a prison yard. This is dangerous to the community.

The Zoning Code currently allows fences as follows:
Front – fences at the front of a dwelling may be up to 3 ½ feet in height.
Rear – fences at the rear or side of a dwelling may be up to 6 feet in height.
Along streets – fences along any street frontage may be up to 3 ½ feet in height.
Razor/Barbed Wire - Razor/barbed wire is not illegal.
However:
Razor and barbed wire on top of a fence is considered part of the height.
Razor/barbed is in violation as a hazard if it is strung low enough to be dangerous to a person.
Example: If barbed wire is placed at the top of an 8 ft. high fence and located within the property line, it is not usually a hazard. On the other hand, if the barbed wire is placed on top of a 6 ft. high fence it then becomes a potential hazard where people could brush against it or fall or be pushed into it.
The Administrative Code currently exempts non-masonry fences that fall within legal heights from zoning review and the necessity of obtaining a zoning permit [A-301.2.5(R) #28].
Please let us know if this fence does not meet these requirements so that we are better able to assist you. Thank you. (mb)
