The floodlight is on a street lightpole (not residential property), which is the property of the City of New Haven ...which pays the bill. The property at 92 Arch that it shines on belongs to Samuel Foster (public record - Vision Appraisals) who at one time held a position with the City of New Haven Livable Cities office. He may have requested that the City have this light installed which is something that any resident of New Haven can do. Arch street is a very narrow and dark street so the extra lighting may help to keep down any potential criminal activity, as well as keep his property well lit and more secure. Sandra's Restaurant has one on their parking lot, but business can request this lighting service and pay an average of $30 for it. Residents cannot get tis service placed on their personal property.
Do you participate in the Hill Management Team meetings - the Hill South mgt team meets the last Wednesday of hte month at 6pm at the Hill South substation - 400 Howard Ave. Not sure if you live in South or North but these types of concerns and questions can be addressed at these meetings and the Hill South Mgt team is a very productive team where we get stuff done, not just talk. So hopefully we will see you at our next meeting.
