I bow my head in shame. "I served".
My father served also, he was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.
This is not the only flag in this city that has been desecrated in the name of advertizing.
Sadly it is only by CHOICE that a city would NOTconsider this a code violation.
And our city chooses not to. It reflects negatively on our entire community.

I am happy to report that this flag has been replaced with a new flag.
I am unhappy to report that this flag has been replaced with a new flag.
There should not be a United States flag on this pole at all. Period. It can not be lowered daily. It is not lighted for night display.
If Haltom City leaders really cared about our city’s image they would have been all OVER this violation .
Did the City issue a permit to have a flag pole with a light on top of it?
Or is it a light pole with a flag hung off of it?
Note the light on top the pole.
Was this pole designed to have the stress of a blowing flag on it?
Either way I am sure that the City did not approve this mess when the Car Lot got their permits and Occupancy Certificate.
How many violations is this! One violation per light pole/per day times x $250 per violation. I think that would encourage the car lots to find a more appropriate and cost effective advertising method than our United States Flag .
Lastly, the City did not even ACKNOWLEDGE this issue which was posted 9 days ago.
Maybe they spoke to the owner, maybe they didn’t. Fact is they have not acknowledged this issue and have nor closed it. Are they simply ignoring it?
