Yes this is true, they do have lights and dividers, but that does not change the fact that the speed limit is not regulated in this area. There are still commercial trucks, cars and buses traveling at high speeds with no regards to the children crossing at the light or crosswalk... If it was your kid you would feel the same way. This is a hazard and the speed limit needs to be lower.

teach your kids to cross at the light when going to the stores and they wont have to dodge CARS THAT ARE ON THE STREET!!! We don't drive on your sideWALK so don't walk in our straightaways.. Home training is a thing of the past as far as Im concerned no one wants to me resposible for themselves, always needing someone else to blame. Its been the speed limit for years, but all of a sudden its an issue...

oh, and I do have children, and guess what... they are not allowed to go NEAR any intersection they do not know how to handle.. They weren't even allowed out the house by themselves until they were 11. If I wasn't going with them, they weren't going out.. REAL RAP!
