Picked up

The DPW always picks up the garbage. DPW is not the problem. The landlord stores bags of garbage on the ground thus feeding rodents that come on my property. I want you to make the landlord store garbage in cans. His tenants follow his example by throwing their garbage bags on the ground as well. The previous two owners never did this.

The owner of 36 and 40 E. 4th St still only has 4 garbage cans; continues to store bagged garbage in their driveway next to my house which attracts rats; and their tenants continue to place their garbage on the curb (on 2nd Ave) attracting rats. Rats in the driveway discourage tenants from walking to the garbage cans which are in the driveway. Some tenants throw garbage out the window. My exterminator is helping me fight the rats on my property, but I need this landlord to stop feeding the rats!

I once received a summons from the City for mistakenly putting my garbage out on the wrong day. Yet this large absentee landlord is allowed to store garbage on the ground attracting rats to the area next to my house. Is there a different standard for small owners versus big landlords? This remains an ongoing problem so please leave this issue open.

The flyer sent by the City refers to Mt Vernon City Code II, General Legislation Chapter 140 - Article 1; 140-2 and 149-38. If you think this situation doesn’t qualify, please let me know and I will close the ticket
