I think building that retail place next to Uno's was the stupidest thing I've seen in the 31 years I've lived in Hamilton. Not only does it obstruct the view of the tables in Uno's (yes, I really want to look out the window while I'm eating and see the BACK of a store) it just looks out of place sitting there. Why didn't they utilize the vacant building sitting between Uno's and the shopping center?! And how about all the vacant retail footage on Whitehorse-Mercerville Rd across from Tree King? Now THAT"s an eyesore and very depressing. If I were KING of the forrest...

i'm with you on leave sloan alone!

Well here it goes, they are shutting down operations at the Sloan Ave Congoleum building. They are currently emptying it out now. It should be completed In the next few weeks. The township is going to have its biggest eyesore yet. Nobody is going to want that land. The cost for clean up alone from over 100 years of disposal abuse. Believe me, there is stuff on that property nobody will want to deal with.

The woods along the right side of the road that runs from the light, pass over the old rail spur, if you look very closely you will see the old mounds that trucks would use to dump off of. Further back along the creek there is a over flow pond. The ground seeps bad stuff into that pond which leads to the creek. Another mess stuck it to Hamiltonians.

Word has it the the employees are going to the press to save the building in hopes of saving their jobs. No chance and good luck with that. We WILL be stuck with an empty warehouse right across from our train station. It is going to be the biggest eyesore in the township yet. Just look at the empty buildings on route 33. The old car dealerships. Costcutters, the old Shop Rite. The fairground stores. The Indpendence plaza. This is to name a few.If the township powers to be want to do something to be remembered by, this is your chance. As for the Sloane ave Congoleum warehouse, encase it in concrete and advertise as our very own Chernobyl. Altleir Johnson can put up just so many sculptures.

Well just had I said they went to the press. In addition they staged a sick day which was not backed by their representing union. Congoleum took offense and charged them all a vacation day with no pay and sent them home the following day. Relations are bad. Even inner circle in salary are stabbing the crap out of each other. Congoleum has become another corporation that sold out. No such thing as family. Hell the new CEO has said that. He believes in team work.
