Description

The intersection located at the corner of 22nd And Pine routinely floods during storms. The 4 sewer drains fill with debris and plug thereby causing the intersection to fill with water. Sometimes it reaches a depth of 2-3 feet and covers the entire intersection. I have brought this to the city's attention over the years. Once they snaked the sewers and found nothing wrong. That's not the problem. The sewers, though old, are in good condition. The problem, according to the traffic engineers and waste water people is the crowning of the street. It isn't crowned to cause the run-off that comes east on Pine, South on 22nd and, down the hill North of 22nd to move towards the river....which would be west . So the water accumulates and floods the intersection and causes a traffic hazard and a potential basement flooding hazard. Recrowning the street is the solution.
