This is an on-going problem at this shopping center and has been for years. When Webster Square Plaza had more occupants, there was a much better police enforcement there to help detere the panhandlers. But now that the plaza is half empty, there are no police there to keep aneye on this problem. Shoppers will hopefully read this and be more aware when they shop there. It doesn't look like the associates at this plaza are going to pay for any detail to keep patrol there. This issue will remain open until something is done about the panhandlers. Concerned Pam

Without security or a police patrol, there will always be panhandleing at Webster Square Plaza. This is on-going and the issue of this will remain open until there is some sort of full time security to patrol this plaza. Concerned Pam

I go to Shaws at this plaza all the time and I have yet to see any type of patrols or security here. The plaza is one-third empty now so this might be the reason nothing has been done so stop panhandlers. So , for now, this issue will remain open. Concerned Pam

This issue has absolutely NOT BEEN CORRECTED. Just last week, my son was approached at the plaza by a person who wanted $2.00 for bus fare. It's never-ending and I'm very concerned for the elderly who shop at Shaws. This issue is still open. Concerned Pam

Just to let you all know, when I went to Shaw's today, (10-27-11), I was approached by a guy asking for some money as he was sitting on the bench in front of the supermarket. So see, even Concerned Pam knows what she's talking about........And this situation is still OPEN !!!!!

Believe me, those that are panhandleing at Webster Square Plaza have NOT gone to the police department to get a permit to hit people up for money there. As far as I can see, there is absolutely no type of security at this half-empty shopping center. Why would the remaining merchants even bother to hire such servises. I have spoken to the management of Shaw's at the plaza about this situation but I guess it really isn't much of a concern to anyone. So, no, this issue has not but fixed. Oh yeah; this issue sure has been corrected !!!!! Last Thursday, February 16th, I was approached by another bum at the plaza, wanting me to give him some money.... This is insane !!! Any day , any time, this is the place to go to have some creep come up to you, even to your vehicle while you are sitting in it, begging for some bucks....This is a very unsafe area and needs police patrols. I was really pleased to see two Worcester Police Officers walking the beat on Stafford Street yesterday. This may not stop what goes on at Webster Square Plaza but it might help deterr someone from doing something they shouldn'tbe doing. Keep up the great work, WPD. Keep your eyes peeled when shopping at Webster Square Plaza. Looks like some new stores will be opening soon there and,I'm sure, the new merchants will want a safe area to attract new shoppers to their stores. Maybe there will be some sort of security put into place then. Just be aware when you go shopping there. Concerned Pam

I just witnessed a panhandler last nigjt check a text at the hess light.

I hope that the foot patrols by the Worcester Police will help curb this problem. Just keep your eye peeled when walking in the area or ar the plaza. Concerned Pam

As articles in the Worcester Telegram state, panhandling in the city has just plain gotten worse. These people who do this at the plaza or at intersections DO NOT want services; they want cash for their booze, butts and drugs. The tree-hugging city officlals should finally open their eyes to this problem. It's only adding another blemish to this city. Concerned Pam
