Description

There are numerous potholes in this area and also down the street. Also, the street is so badly damaged that there is loose gravel everywhere. The street is at an incline, and this poses a dangerous condition. Several people have slipped and fallen on the loose gravel. The gravel needs to be swept away ASAP and the road needs to be repaired.

The City of Oakland Public Works Department has received this issue. It is registered as service request # 521757. Thank you, in advance, for your patience as we work through a backlog of pothole service requests. Unfortunately the City does not have enough funding to repave all streets in poor condition. With limited funding, our response to resurfacing requests is limited to minor pavement and pothole repairs only. Our Street Maintenance Department will assess your street and determine whether temporary measures might be appropriate. Please understand that this work may be limited to pothole or other minor repairs, and that we have many similar requests. We will do our best to respond in a timely manner. The backlog of streets in Oakland needing pavement currently is $435 million and growing.

Oakdale Ave is full of potholes and desperately needs to be repaved. I have lived on Oakdale for 12 years, and there has not been any work on the street. It's over time for the street to be repaved!

I agree, Jackie. This needs the City's immediate attention. With the amount of gravel that has been kicked up from the potholes and the road's steep grade, the City is just begging for a lawsuit. There are several elderly residents and dog walkers that use this street all the time. You are put on NOTICE, City of Oakland. This constitutes A DANGEROUS CONDITION OF PUBLIC PROPERTY that needs to be rectified immediately. I am attaching a photo of one of several potholes in the street. You can see that it's more than twice the size of my dog.

Yes, Oakdale needs repaved as soon as possible. I live on the street and have injured myself having to walk my dog in the street (due to the overgrown weeds on the sidewalk) by stepping and slipping on loose gravel. It's a hazard.

Crime crisis, schools crisis, broken roads crisis...don't forget to vote in Nov. for the mayoral candidate that MIGHT be able to do some good. Register to vote, get an absentee ballot, study about the candidates. Raise your voice.

This part of upper Millsmont has been terribly neglected. Every single block is in need of some repair. (I am looking forward to the next election...hint hint)

Yes, it is very neglected. There is NO ONE representing us! Oakdale Ave is a disgrace full of potholes. Hazardous and shameful. I pay high taxes to this City, and my street, Oakdale Ave, is an absolute mess!
