  I'm not sure the lots / spacing was originally designed for it you would either be cutting into peoples front yards on cottage grove or their back yards on loaldo. I think you would have a heck of an up hill fight either way to convince all parties to go for it.

  I'm assuming this request comes from a want for safer streets for the kids to walk on so a secondary easier to pursue approach might be to get some speed bumps. Alternatively since people speed so hard on cottage grove kids could side track on Green Acres or Loaldo to get out to north ave?

  Keegan, that isn't want they want. . They want a sdiewalk. Just asking why they can't have it, and perhaps if enough of us support this it will make a difference. I live on a street with no sidewalk and we like it that way, but there is still a right of way for utilities etc. measured from the center of the street. I did get the speed limit lights on North Ave so I though I'd try again. I feel badly that the seniors don't feel safe walking.

  I just think it's strange that people that ask for sidewalks and have a lot of children in the neighborhood have to go through such a hurdle to get something done. With the taxes as high as they are you would think you could get something accomplished. And that goes for the poor condition of the roads. The neighboring towns are pristine compared to the ones in Burlington.

  Gil, I agree with everything you said and unfortunely I am of the mind that the city should be working for us. If we pay for something that is for the public safety, there should be no reason it can't happen. I might be nieve, but I need to see what we can do. Sidewalks are HORRIBLE in NNE. I am a senior myself and hope to continue to stay active and fit and stay here, I don't want to move to Florida or Az with new pristine sidewalks.

  I'm a senior also and the sidewalks in Burlington are terrible! It seems like you have to live in the rich neighborhoods and even then they aren't the best for walking. With the current manager at DPW, things are terrible and they need to get a new one.. Burlington has gone way downhill as far as they are concerned. I have attempted to talk to the manager on the phone and he doesn't want to listen about anything!

We're excited to let you know that we are now implementing a comprehensive asset management program which is a mostly "behind the scenes" effort. This will enable more efficient, more effective and more fiscally sound infrastructure management. Nothing changes for you and we'll continue to use SeeClickFix, but we have had to automate a process to connect our open SCF requests with our asset management program. There may be the occasional bug to work out, but rest assured that your issue is still in queue and assigned to the right City staffer.   Dear Burlington, As I understand the above, we will now be getting an automated message to say you are sending this issue to a Asset Management Program to determine fiscal feasibility. This just puts another layer betweent the citizens and the City . Can a person reply to me to let me know what Dept will be looking into this ? I know this is expensive but not impossible.

  I just found this personal note on the Curtis Ave Sidewalk repair issue. Mr Cormier would you reply to us regarding our issue ? We would like to know it is received, being considered and is being added to the "system" ? Thank you.

  Thank you for your interest in our City’s sidewalks. In order for the DPW to inspect sidewalk condition we must receive a Request For Service (RFS). These can be submitted through either Customer Service (802) 863-9094 or through See, Click, Fix at http://en.seeclickfix.com/burlington_2. Once the request has been processed, it will be added to our list of locations to be inspected. After the sidewalk has been inspected, it gets evaluated for the type of repair needed and added to our system.
  We are currently experiencing a 2-3 year backlog on sidewalk requests due to a severely underfunded sidewalk program. This list is typically addressed in chronological order from oldest to newest request with exceptions for sidewalk repairs that are deemed a significant safety hazard or repairs that are part of another planned project already scheduled.his issue also to let us know you have received it , it is in que and it is being considered ?

  The City of Burlington is in the process of undergoing an updated city wide sidewalk inventory of all deficiencies. This will help prioritize replacements and installation of new sidewalk where it doesn't currently exist. As we finalize the inventory, we will continue to create work plans using this as a tool to equitably distribute work and prioritize requests. Once sidewalks are planned and replaced, SCFs are updated and closed out. We are working to catch up on years of deferred maintenance on our existing 130 mile sidewalk network. Thanks to community support, we have been rebuilding 3 miles of sidewalk per year – triple the historical average.
