The HHS tennis courts continue to be in a state of deterioration. The patch work to fix cracks was poor at best. There are rough spots in the patched areas, and cracks are reappearing. There is mud on court 8 that has been there for months, rendering it unplayable. The court surfaces are flaking away and the entire court surfaces need to be resurfaced. The steps have tree debris from last Fall. The courts are a disgrace to be used in athletic competition.
The courts have been deteriorating for years. What is the plan to repair them to bring them up to standard? BTW, the Middle School's are not much better.

We also received pricing on Reconstructing the courts. Concrete would cost $881,000.00 option is asphalt at $603,000.00. Funds are currently not available.
We will continue to make repairs as needed to make safe until that kind of funding is available.

I’m sorry but how is it possible that reconstructing the courts will cost nearly 900k when new haven has more courts that they are planning to redo for almost half that?

These courts are falling into further disrepair. Please come fix the nets and clean them up a bit before the spring season.
Actual Hamden residents use these courts as does the high school!
It’s also a shame that all tennis season the lights were off and now when I drive by in winter, the lights are on!

I also find it hard to believe it will cost 800K to resurface the courts, with the average cost to resurface a court typically 8K. Possibly more with the needed work, but 100K per court?!?
Please advise when the new cracks will be repaired.

That price is not to resurface the courts, it is to reconstruct the courts.
The courts are beyond resurfacing!
Going out to bid would possibly bring a lower price but we can not do that until there are funds available for that specific project.
I will inquire again with BOE and the Administration if there are any plans for the courts.
I am only the middle man here, I can only relay what I know!
