Description
OUR SECTION OF ROAD ON 119TH ST N BETWEEN ULMERTON AND WALSINGHAM RD IS A DESIGNATED FULL LANE BICYCLE LANE. IT IS HOWEVER FULL OF MANY LARGE POTHOLES AND ROAD CRACKS THAT AT ANYTIME COULD TRIP UP A CYCLIST. THERE ARE NUMEROUS PATCHES AND PATCHES WITH HOLES AND HOLES BIG ENOUGH TO PUT BOTH FEET IN. THERE ARE MORE HOLES THAN ROAD AND NO SECTION WITHOUT HOLES. WE ALSO HAVE NO SIDEWALKS SO THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS STRETCH OF ROADWAY FOR WALKING AND BIKING.

The County receives many requests for sidewalk installs each year. Each request is reviewed as to whether it can be installed using in-house staff or if it needs to be a Capital Improvement Project. If it’s within staff’s ability and schedule permits, it will be added to the queue for installation. If it cannot be completed via in house staff, it is added to the unfunded list. As funding comes available, the list is reviewed, and project scopes are determined. All sidewalk projects are evaluated by County staff with a combination of ranking and Cost Benefit Analysis (CBA) continually.
Unfortunately, this project has been added to the unfunded list. As a side note, for perspective, the County’s current Unfunded List contains:
• over 220 requests and
• over 100 linear miles of sidewalk requests
And there has been a previous request for sidewalk on 119th Street North that we have received that was added previously. We thank you for contacting Pinellas County Public Works and bringing this to our attention.
