I am familiar with this property but I believe the address is 540 w.chestnut. I will try to address these concerns with the following:

1.) All present work (addition, vinyl and roofing) are legally permitted and current.
2.) Currently the property is still in compliance with the "green space" ordinance. This is in regards to the front yard (gravel). As long as at least 25percent of the property remains "green" ie.. .grass or plantings. The city cannot enforce the code.
3.) They can't however park vehicles on the graveled areas. I will monitor the situation and bring it to the owner's attention.
4.) As far as running a business out of a residential home (zone) I will again investigate the matter and bring it to the owner's attention. If this allegation is found to be true the owner will receive a letter to cease and further fines will be levied.

The neighbor did not quite capture the crowd of vans on a weekend parked at this house. Multiple trucks, different business names on them, this photo is from last Saturday night. We counted 7 in front, and yes, parked on the gravel.

I would like to add a comment to this situation. There is now a large amount of construction debris on the right side of the property, left on the ground.. Is there any type of follow-up? There are still trucks parked there over the weekend, just fewer.

Sorry, I feel your pain.

I drive by it every day. The trucks are still parked on the gravel over the weekend, and at night. The yard seems a bit cleaner but the "work" on the house is never complete. I think this is designed to hid a business; they give the appearance of always working on the house but nothing is progressing. Maybe someone else commenting will inspire a response from the city?

Well, i just drove by at 4:15 am on a Sunday, there’s four crews loading up the vans for what looks like heading out to do work. Oh, the the entire front is loaded with vehicles.

In the year that has passed since this was first posted, it definitely does not look like a residential home anymore. Totally the opposite. Even someone who is not knowledgeable in this field can tell the difference. It's so obvious.

I don’t believe it’s a business the owner is definitely renting this property to multiple families who are self-employed and have their own trucks. The city won’t do anything because they’re clearly paying the property taxes on the home and other expenses. I drive by this home daily and see the same trucks taking up the whole front yard and some even parked on the street. Even during the busiest time of the days I see children just running out into the street without any supervision. It’s annoying that the families decided to reside on one of the busiest streets nothing can be done unfortunately.

I just drove past there at 6:10 tonight on my way home and the whole front yard (gravel parking lot) was absolutely full of cars, trucks, etc. with about a dozen vehicles parked on the street. I asked a few months back here why motor vehicles are allowed to park on W. Chestnut even when the police are aware of this. I travel quite a bit on W. Chestnut and I have never witnessed any type of vehicle parked on that road except at this location.

Additional Information -
540 West Chestnut is zoned as R-1-B (single family residential). Property card lists it as 1 unit, NOT multi-family. It has 4 bedrooms (8 rooms total) and 1-1/2 baths. There are many people living there with more trucks on the weekend, overnight parking, than reasonable for a single-family residence. The situation is worse than one year ago so they are ignoring whatever the City told them when this was first reported. The owner of the house has a construction business. and those trucks are all connected. Some vehicles are non-identified, others are. They also park some behind the house now, too. Within this residential area they use the gravel as a commercial truck parking lot. I see that this is acknowledged by the Building Department and hope an update will be posted.

Someone at 540 must be connected to City Hall for this to have gone on so long. Any one who has an interest in this subject and/or those who have posted here would thoroughly understand that none of us would catch any kind of break like this had it been one, two or 12 of us involved. ART recently posted some pretty strong evidence of what is possibly going on at this property. And like I mentioned on October 9 of this year it seems pretty obvious from the outside since this was first posted in the spring of 2021. We could be wrong, but it definitely appears the city has turned a blind eye to this situation by not taking any kind of action -- either way.

Good morning. The above mentioned property located at 541 West Chestnut street has been inspected several times with in the past year. All work preformed on the property has been legally permitted and inspected. All in compliance to state and local building codes/ordinances. We are closely monitoring the situation and working with the traffic commission in regards to the off street parking matter.
