The towns that were against the Blue Route (Swarthmore) now have the back up traffic to emit exhaust in their town. Thank you to the folks in Swarthmore for the backups and delays!

After seeing this posting, I looked at the Blue Route on my way home from work. There is plenty of room in the median and/or wide shoulders, they could make 3 lanes each way without widening the road.

The borough of Swarthmore and US Rep Bob Edgar opposed six lanes south of West Chester Pike. That's why it is what it is.

Both Northbound and Southbound sides of the highway should be widened to 3 lanes. Traffic of any significant volume south of exit9/Rt. 3/WCP clogs up the existing two lanes.

Not that I agree with the extreme right wing, but this is a perfect example of the left wing going wrong. Tjey take an action to reduce emmisions and it has precisely the opposite effect.

It's absolutely ridiculous that I often spend more than an hour on the Blue Route, making what is actually an 18-minute commute, when there is no legitimate cause or emergency other than sheer volume.

A lot of it has to do with dumb drivers, too. Did you ever notice the traffic simply vanish, without an exit in sight? It's AMAZING what a handful of people who don't know how to efficiently drive on heavily populated roadways can do to mess up the entire flow.

Know what I started doing? Flooring it up the shoulder. If you won't fix it, then I'll adapt and find a way around it.

The restriction causes economic losses from time lost, increased air pollution from stacked traffic, and accident increases. For 11-12 feet, I'd rather have less air pollution and a unnecessary crappy commute.

Complain to all of the crybabies that forced PENDOT to downsize the roadway. I hope the overflow of traffic sits in front of their houses every day!!!

You can thank the folks in Swarthmore/Wallingford for that one. That issue is why it took so long to get the road open in the first place. Guess they thought it would be better for their health to have two lanes full of cars sitting there idling than three lanes moving along.
As for the southbound problems on Friday afternoon, that is largely because I-95 south is backed up also, plus the fact that that the ramp from 476 to 95 south is pretty ridiculous (three lanes merge into one, then have about a mile to merge onto 95.

Problem is now that even if expanded to 3 lanes its already out dated to handle the amount of people traveling on it......and guess what.....theres more people coming!!!!
