Alpha is mad at the site, he is going around telling everyone to close the blog. I think he is affected by the posts here and wants everyone to stop doing their civic duty!!!

311 and this site go together. Both are for reporting issues. Take off the rose colored glasses, if every blog here needs to be closed as you suggest then this is a perfect place and the roads never need worked on and blah blah blah.
However, there are pot holes, flooded streets speeders that nothing is being done about and signs that need to be installed!

Alpha sure seems to know alot about how the city works, and has alot of answers. Perhaps alpha is a woman? Perhaps she works for the city in some kind of capacity. Perhaps she is a government plant to try to get us to stop doing our civic duty. Go back to your city job and take 5 breaks a day, and take another two hour lunch alpha. Leave us civic minded people to do our job. And if you do work for the city, pick up those nasty butts in the Gosnold park.

You breezed over them and went for the litter stick you thought would be free while letting me know you had no intention of using it for your concern to protect the turtles. One does not have to be a city worker to understand how the city functions, strong,consistent volunteer work puts one in contact w/both city workers,leaders and other strong civic minded dooers. We do not gripe at the "lazy city workers and talk about our taxpaying, we talk about the types of things we can do to "help" our community and go out and preform the tasks. I have yet to find this free can grabber that you told me about. Twice I spoke to workers in the park, and I was told that they don't offer the grabbers. The second time I asked, the young man in the white truck was nice enough to show me what they use to pick up debris. It seems like it would work very well for this kind of problem. The city monitors this site, They will repair the issue. It just takes time.

Correct me if I am wrong but I believe if you are making a left turn on a green ball and the other cars that oppose you are going strait you would be the one required to YIELD by state law. Why do you have to have a sign to tell you this. Know the laws or get off the road. DUH

Are you saying yield signs are needed at every intersection on every approach. Also are you saying a stop or yield sign is needed at EVERY intersection in the City. This would be unreasonable. Are you saying every intersection in the CITY including neighborhoods should have a left turn yield sign. This is unreasonable and there would be more signs then people would read. Can't fix drivers that break the law by adding a sign. It also would not change whos fault the accident is. Please leave this close.

Oh My, Alpha. You are quite a hoot!

If you are at an intersection where 2 directions both have a green light for through(straight) and left turn traffic the persons that are making a left turn are to yield to vehicles driving through the intersection how ever if both vehicles are turning left then they may do so at the same time and stay in their respective lanes. It is drivers Ed 101!

The intersection should be marked with arrows to help new drivers understand the traffic pattern.

If this intersection where a crash hazard then there would be different signage placed by the city. I have driven all approaches of this intersection and do not understand how it is confusing if you follow proper driving laws. It is no different then multiple other intersections through out Hampton with the exact same set ups and are signed identically. If you can traverse those intersections how is this one different?

Traffic is very heavy here. sometimes the drivers get confused. The city needs to install a traffic light a nd crosswalk here.

If simple traffic rules confuse you do everyone a favor stay off the road. If every intersection has to be signed with every specific rule everyone one would crash from trying to read all the signs! If you are not happy with a traffic pattern call city of hampton's traffic engineering division and ask them to explain the rules and regulations they have to follow for marking this intersection to get a better understanding of why the way it has been for numerous years now!

Wow I love how I get accused of being alpha even though I have an established account! If the city were still monitoring this site how come there is no comment from one of their employees anymore... I have also seen 2 different versions of story as to who "supposedly" monitors for Hampton... 1 is a parks staff member from Sandy bottom the other is Gosnalds Hope Staff and with budget cuts I highly doubt the city will pay any one to monitor a 3rd party site when they already have their own program in place. I don't know why everyone is adverse to reporting issues to the city directly through already established resources

I drove this intersection today at noon the lane marking and yield signs are in compliance with standard highway markings. Also VDOT does not monitor this sight nor is it their problem to fix signs on city maintained streets

Issue should be corrected before the blog is closed. Keep this open as the city moniters this site and responds to these postings. Please only close if you are the orginial poster.

The intersection is both signed and marked correctly on pavement in accordance with National Highway Safety Standards. There is no issue to be fixed!

Over on the right side of the page just above the map there is a link that says "where did this report go?" if you click it the City of Hampton is NOT listed as a watcher anymore. Hampton removed them selves from the monitoring of this site a year ago. You can yell and spout off all you want on this "free blog" but its just that the city no longer monitors due to wasted man power from inadequate information provided. If you want to see good done in your city then pick up a phone or take 2 min to email the city departments directly for resolution of the issues.

Please just stop the banter and let the site work as it's founders intended. The city moniters this site. The end. It generates emails to the city. It was proven by the traffic supervisor that helped with the fading paint lines. It works. Plain and simple. Why are you so set against the site working? Were you one of the workers let go when this site went online? Do you not care about your city? The "who's watching" list is only a slice of the whole pie. There are other ways that the site reports issues to the people that need to know them.
