Description

The storm water drainage system from Holly place and above my property runs into a storm water stream that crosses my property. there was work done a few years ago on the storm water system across the street from my property. Ever since that was done when we have any significant amount of rainfall as seems to be more an more frequent the storm water overflows the stream in my yard. the diameter of pipe cannot hand the increased volume of water and back up into my driveway. It then runs into my garage and into my basement. It also erodes my driveway This has now happened on multiple occasions. the last time was during Hurricane IDA on August 26th. The storm water backup from the street drains resulted in over 4 inches of water in my basement. The only reason it did not happen yesterday, October 27th was that the storm drain became blocked on the other side of Bittersweet from my property and then ran down the street. There are engineers there today looking at the drainage on the other side of the street and I am concerned that what they do to rectify the problem in that spot is going to worsen the situation on my property. I am inquiring to see if there is anything that the Town can do to rectify this situation. thank you.
