Yes that is correct. Last week I called NHPD and I beleive they arrested two individuals who tried to flee in their car. They got them at the corner of West Rock & West Elm. The following day I went to playground and noted a used condom in the play area.

A few days later, I noted a Blue suburban with two individuals parked on West Rock by School parking lot. It was late and they were just sitting in the vehicle.

The City's question is absurd. The type of issue is that people (perhaps prostitutes) are having sex in a school playground. As a neighbor, this concerns me greatly. There needs to be a greater police presence at this location. Our children should not have to find used condoms on their playground.

This is disgusting!! As a resident in this neighborhood we must take action and stop this before our neighborhood becomes crime infested. I am appalled by this happening at a school!!!

In addition I noted that (2) pole mounted light fixtures, which I assume are provided by the Light theNight the Program from UI, are not working. The appropriate contact should be notified.

Also there is (1) Aliminum light post in School Parking area immediately adjacent to playground that does not work as well.

What time of day does this happen? A neighborhood patrol of citizens, similar to what East Rock set up a few summers ago roughly between the hours of 8pm and 11pm, could also help keep an eye on things. It could also help to engage neighbors living near problem areas, to see if they are aware of how to report suspicious activities or are willing to periodically check out their windows.

Not a bad idea. But first measures should be taken, by school & city officials to make sure existing light fixtures are operational. I noted two fixtures needing attention. One fixture looks like its maintained by UI and the other by school.

My wife and i have been confronting johns and prostitutes for years on West Elm near West Rock. Cops do little when called, neighbors are not observant. So we just keep our corner clear.....

I am sorry to hear this has been ongoing for years.....To be fair to NHPD I have called on two seperate occassions and the response has been good. They were on-site within minutes. We as residents need to be more vigilant and be quick to call in suspicious activity.
