I visited this location today and verified the pedestrian crossing time is set appropriately and the ped buttons are functioning as well. I also witnessed pedestrians crossing 3500 S safely and with time to spare. I did note that there is only a crosswalk and push buttons on the west leg of the intersection. The east leg is not striped for a crosswalk due to the offset between the north and south legs, the north leg being a driveway. The pedestrian phase for the crosswalk operates only with the north leg/ southbound traffic, while the northbound traffic runs a separate phase allowing protected left-turns. In order to have sufficient crossing time, one needs to push the button and cross when the pedestrian signal is on, rather than follow the overhead traffic signals. If one doesn't push the button, the green time will be much shorter, or if following the northbound signal heads, the time may not only be shorter but a pedestrian would be in conflict with the northbound traffic.
