WHEN THE CORNER APARTMENT WAS DEMOLISHED WHY DID THEY LEAVE THE STRUCTURS TO THE EAST? TO MY KNOWLEDGE NOBODY LIVES THERE, THERE APPEARS TO BO ONLY ONE ELECTRICAL LINE FEEDING FIVE BUILDINGS, AND WHATS LEFT LOOKS TO BE THE REMAINS OF A BOMB BLAST. PIPES HANGING OUT OF WALLS, NO WALLS, OLD PLUMBING PIPES DANGELING OUT OF WALLS, ETC. THE STRUCTURES ARE AN EYESORE NOT ONLY TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD, BUT TO THE CITY ALSO INAS MUCH AS THIS AREA IS A MAIN ENTRANCE TO THE DOWNTOWN AREA OF ROCKFORD. THIS IS MY SECOND ENTRY TO THIS PROBLEM BUT SINCE THEY AREN'T GOING TO ADDRES IT THEY JUST REMOVE IT. WHAT'S THE SENSE OF POSTING IF NOTHING IS GOING TO BE DONE??

The demolition project is expected to go out for bid next week, said Patrick Zuroske, Rockford capital program manager.
“It’s part of the next round of demolition,” he said of the removal of 14 such buildings along the West State Street corridor to make way for the long-awaited beginning of the West State Street reconstruction project between Sunset Avenue and Kent Creek.
The city is acquiring and demolishing property to accommodate a wider road that will include a boulevard.
In addition to a new road, the city will create a linear park along West State Street from Kent Creek to Pierpont Avenue as part of $31.85 million reconstruction of Rockford’s western gateway. The park will feature gardens, play areas, exercise stations and a recreational path, and address water drainage in the area.
