Can't the city investigate the lack of a CITY business license? Or can't the county investigate whether they are complying with the vacation rental tax requirements. I know other cities that habitually scan the airbnb and vrbo websites for houses being offered for rent that are not in the proper zoning area. Some proactive initiative might help control these offenders. If the public cannot report these types of infractions anonymously then the city officials need to be more vigilant in seeking out offenders who are emboldened by the lack of enforcement due to Senate Bill 60. People are afraid to report because of the new atmosphere of potential violence against them.

I agree with Todd’s sentiments regarding this violation. A quick search on Airbnb and VRBO shows numerous active listings within the Treasure Island RM-15 residential areas. I will call the above number as well and provide my name and contact information so we may assist in ensuring that the short term rentals do not violate the current Treasure Island Code of Ordinances.
