Description
The DOT just renewed the permit for a generator to be left on the street in front of 315 West 103rd Street based on a DOB permit that was revoked six months ago in July '09.
This new DOT permit (#M022009363306) should be revoked immediately.

Hi,
Is there a problem with the generator being there? Need more info to justify looking further into the matter.

CivilServant -
Thanks so much for your quick reply.
The DOB revoked the construction permit for 315 West 103rd Street and issued a Stop Work Order in July '09 (due to the owner's false claim that the building was vacant). Nonetheless, the DOT keeps renewing their permit allowing the owner to keep the generator on the street. They are doing this based on the owner submitting the revoked DOB permit as "proof" that construction continues and that he still has a valid DOB permit (which is required to renew the DOT permit).
The generator is unsightly, is covered with graffiti, is preventing the street from being able to be cleaned, and is taking up a parking space.
Thanks again,

I understand your problem, fortunately DOT just issues the permits and does not question the request unless there is some flag in the request. I will dig a little and inquire if the contractor can move the generator or if hes not using it to remove it form the site. Give me a few days to respond.

Thanks again.
We actually already had sent a letter to DOT's Permit Management Unit flagging the issue and requesting that they not renew the permit. Unfortunately, they renewed it anyway.
Our suspicion is that the owner and contractor will not remove the generator unless the permit is revoked and he is forced to move it.
Are you a public official?

Hi Residents of 103rd St.,
The owner was contacted and asked to remove the generator, and i was told he was compliant and was going to return the generator to the rental company. Please give this issue 5 working days.
