Description
Dear Mayor Keller and Members of City Council,
There's no denying it, we have a major homeless problem and it is time to address it and seek solutions. Your first four years were a major failure along with inaction city council. We were constantly bombarded with the ART Project and that dreadful soccer stadium. Our tax dollars need to go to serving those less fortunate in our community as well. We need to start getting these people off of drugs (mainly fentanyl) and start them to being active members in our society. Letting them stand at intersections begging for money is not helping, it's only enabling their addictions. Albuquerque has acres of undeveloped city property that can be used to house the homeless, let's start building a few communities for them, let's start identifying them, addressing their health and needs. Let's get them out of business and commercial properties, let's get them out of alley ways and easements, especially arroyos. We need a plan of action and it has to happen now. We cannot wait another four years while our city becomes a wasteland of needles, trash and drugs. Whatever organization the city has implemented now is not working. We need 24 hour hotlines to get these people 24 hour help. 311 starts at 8 am, that doesn't work either. I implore you Mayor Keller, please do something. I implore every city council member to start a plan of action in their districts. We voted for you, don't let us down.
