What you don't realize is the "right turn" is officially into the Fitzpatrick parking lot. That entrance/exit from the business has a traffic light. So, if you want to allow the right turn on red to Beaver St., what will you do when a semi leaves that lot on a green light and someone tries to make that turn on red?
For twenty years I have been using this intersection from all directions and never a problem. Then somebody with nothing better to do decides to install yet another light to slow people down, create road rage and waste gas. Who is the genius that insisted on the no right on red sign. My tax dollars at work.
As long as there is a business using that parking lot, then it seems that this signage is necessary. However, if that building becomes vacant, I would hope that someone would have the sense to disable it's traffic signal and remove the "No Turn on Red" restriction.
They can't remove that sign as the light also is there to control traffic flow from the Fitzpatrick Container Corporation lot where the trucks enter and exit. If they pulled the "No Turn on Red" sign, someone could potentially get hit if they were bearing right onto Beaver St. when the light was green for the Fitzpatrick lot. Just sayin...
