Agree. Many of us have been recommending VanVorst as a one-way street for years

Just following up to determine the status of the traffic study for Van Vorst Street. In particular, the intersection at Van Vorst and Grand is very tight for cars turning (and cars become backed up). A food truck frequently parks at Morris and Van Vorst. There's no stop sign for traffic and it's dangerous crossing the street. Pedestrians have to peek around the food truck into on-coming traffic.

This will be investigated by our Traffic team.

Inquiring about the status of this traffic study. In addition to lacking space for two-way traffic to pass, about 5:30p at night traffic turning left onto Grand is backing up significantly. Traffic backup creates vehicles blocking exit for fire truck.

The Department presented alternatives at the April HPHA meeting. The consensus among the community members present was to eliminate the 3 parking spaces on the west side of Van Vorst south of Grant Street. An ordinance to do so will be recommended for City Council adoption.

Thank you for the update on the issue. With the removal of the 3 parking spots, will this solve the traffic congestion turning from Van Vorst onto Morris? From the description, it seems the 3 spots to be removed are closer to Grand. There have been many close calls to cars sideswiping our vehicle on the block of Van Vorst between Sussex and Morris.

Although I was not able to attend the April HPHA meeting but had corresponded with representatives before the meeting to contribute.

The community members at the HPHA meeting did not recommend further elimination of on-street parking. It was the consensus of the community members gathered at the meeting that the higher priority for safety was the block between Sussex and Grand.

We will continue to monitor conditions once the 3 spaces are removed. Further action could be taken with community support.
