NASTY! Enforce loitering! Police should make them feel very unwelcome. Garbage filled carts rolling down the sidewalk and mentally ill weirdos loitering is not conducive to a healthy downtown shopping enviroment.

I am disgusted anytime I drive down main street. The garbage filled carts Rolling down the side walk and mentally ill people from that halfway house on lockwood loitering. NASTY! Instead of the cops harassing tax paying citizens for parking tickets they should be persuing these scumbags and clean up this city!

The Police are an integral part of the failure of downtown new rochelle. These scumbags wander the streets high on heroin or drunk picking garbage can, picking up cigarette buts off the street and smoking them and making scenes, disrupting the public in the middle of the streets or the side walks. They should be arrested or thrown in a train so they know they are NOT WELCOME here.

They are EVERYWHERE !! They have even wandered into my favorite cafe in downtown New Rochelle. They are drunk, HIGH, and in addition to picking up cigarette butts, sifting through garbage, they pan handle as well. One of them actually followed me from the Post office to two banks saying, " use your atm card, get me money" Did the cops do anything? Does the Mayor do anything? NO. WHEN DOES THIS END?? We pay the HIGHEST property taxes in the nation ! Yet, we have the lowest quality of life in New Rochelle.

I have passed by said location on several occasions. I have yet to see any compound or tent that this person had mentioned. I have seen several homeless parties in and around the area.What do you think we should do with the homeless people? Should we arrest them? Beat them up and make them feel unwelcome.? I read some of these silly comments and laugh.You may not beleive this but they do have rights also. In addition, the city of New Rochelle does not have a code violation law regarding loitering, just for your information. The police are already overwelmed. Lets not blame it on them. The police can not be everywhere. Its bad enough that they are understaffed. If you dont call 911 for assistance or wave a police office down how is he supposed to know whats going on. And guess what if you park illegally in any city or state you will get a summons, I am also guilty of that. However, lets face it paying 25 cents or 50 cents for a meter is better then paying 25 or 40 dollars. Lets do the math folks and stop blaming others for the lack of our irrresponsible actions. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

The police refuse to do anything about it!!! They turn a blind eye!!!They rather not arrest these crack heads, herion addicts and drunkards because they dont want the city's crime numbers to go up.. its statistics fixing at its finest!!! They rather issue revenue producing tickets for parking, expired inspection stickers and traffic infractions, rather than arrest, ticket and contain these parasitic scumbags that blight the streets of downtown new rochelle. We want legislation & ENFORCEMENT.

I have been on a construction project on Main St. for a few months. I have known for some time that New Rochelle has become a dumping ground of undesireables from the surrounding area. However, I was amazed at how bad the sitaution has gotten. One of my co-workers excused himself to get past one of those weirdos who was blocking the doorway of the jobsite. The fellow then cursed out my co-worker and spat on him. I believe that he would have done that to any man, woman, or child who asked him to move.
One day I stepped out of the jobsite door right between Main St. Mary and her potential customer as she asked him, "Well, what is it that you want?"

I don't know if these folks are homeless or not. I believe that many come from the facilities on Lockwood Ave. They should not be out on the street. They should not be in my town.

The City Fathers need, to STEP UP!!! Most of them do not come to this area. If the City provided, some grants to explore a solution to this concern. We are still suppose to be, our Brothers' Keeper. Everyone should help and give back to the area, where they live. Everyone with concerns need to express themselves in front of your City Council Person, in LARGE NUMBERS. Outside pressure works for ALL THINGS. We need to wake up and apply pressure!! I am born and raised here. And Yes, I am disappointed with our lack of Productivity. But, we are told, ALL is well here in New Rochelle. I truly disagree. You cannot just LIVE here, you must be willing to give back, to help spur untiy, growth and prosperity, to ALL. Sow seeds of Grace, Knowledge, Help. That way when our seeds take fruit, we will reap, the same. A Community, should help itself, ALL the time. Not just, a selected few times.

Its amazing that this is the top vote getter and four of the top five complaints are varaitions of the same issue and yet no one seems to want to do anything about it. The blight is spreading like cancer beyond the downtown area. Are we waiting for smeone to get mugged on Church Street, a girl to be raped on Pelahm Road, or a child to be attacked in the Library green.
I guess as long as everything is OK for Bramsons cronies in the North End, then ther really is no problem huh?
