Description
Water level has been going up and down, which means that the driveway drain is just reflecting whatever is going on in the street drain. Our drain was working fine in the last heavy rainfall.

Water has been coming in and out of our sump from the city's drain over the past week - the water level in the sump has been fluctuating and this can only be due to a problem with the city drain because (1) the rainwater sump is directly (and only) connected to the city drain, and (2) there has been no water going into the drain from its grate (i.e., no rain or private water). The only plausible explanation is an increased water level in the city drain. There were several service trucks attending to the pipes on Irving street over the past week (marked something like “water main cleaning”) and so it is likely that they altered the city drain in some way, causing the increased water level.
