Oakridge Ave is a mess. We hardly ever plowed unless we complain, never salted or sanded unless we complain and now it’s flooded. We pay high taxes, where is our road service?

No storm drains to clear either…. Such a hazard. This street is in terrible shape on a good day. The poor family who has to deal with this mess in front of their hime and for all of us who have to drive through…. Please help

Oakridge Avenue is a private roadway. As such, the services provided are different than on public ways as required by a number of state laws that the Town has adopted to provide some services, but the Public Works may not perform other work, such as drainage work on private ways. The road is plowed as part of our snow and ice program, but the 20 foot width and frequent parking in the travel way impedes the operations. The road is not typically salted as it is next to a drinking water resource. We patch the road upon request, per the Town regulations. Below is a link for more information on private ways.

Honestly, this private roadway nonsense is getting old. It is Funny how the town does not treat us like a private roadway when they want us to do something like install sewer and water and have us spend thousands to get services with them. We have Town water, sewer, electric and fire hydrants. The truth Mr Hollowell is that the road was never paved properly like we were promised after the sewer was installed Supposedly the "Project ran out of money". We recieved a very thin skim coat of liquid pavement over the badly damaged roadway that was left after the sewer project. This was nothing more than polishing a turd and now you tell us this is our problem. Thank you Town of North Attleboro for creating this $200k to $300k problem for us taxpayers on Oakridge. Maybe we should have a discussion of what our options are. We are not DPW and none of us have the expertise to fix it. Your facilities line this entire road. Maybe instead of just always thowing the "private road" around the town could assist us in either taking the steps to get the road accepted as a public way or at least help us figure out funding or whatever is needed to get this road fixed correctly. We are looking to you as the DPW director to assist us in some way.

Actually, the water and sewer were installed by betterment at the request, and paid for, by the residents.
The issue with the road being accepted is that the layout is only 20’ in width (plus or minus). The residents could request a betterment project through the Board of Publuc Works to upgrade the road. I would be happy to facilitate.
