I thought police would confiscate dirt bikes. That's what was announced at big press conference some months ago.

This issue has been reported here many many times. The city won't respond.

If you know where dirt bikes, quads and ATVs are garaged, report it to the New Haven Police Criminal Intel Unit. The officer in charge is:

He will respond to emails and calls. If you report a known ATV or dirt bike location to him, he will investigate and confiscate the machines.

This issue is still open. Just last weekend there are quads and dirt bikes racing up and down Hubinger St. I will not close this issue until there is a real solution. Another couple of weeks and we will have to put up with this again. I wish the City would just admit that there is nothing that can be done. We the homeowners around here pay our taxes and the city can't stop this from happening. The City streets are being ruled by those that wish to ride dirt bikes and cause mayhem.

I've heard that the majority of these people aren't even residents of New Haven; they bring their bikes and ATVs here because they know they can ride with impunity. If I let my car registration expire, and drove around the city the way they do, there's no chance that I wouldn't be pulled over and pay the consequences. That's what I can't get my mind around.

I just moved to the street and the noise is out of control. I fully support any civilian actions being taken to solve this. I called the cops myself one night and nothing seemed to have been solved.

Looks like the dirtbike issue has really slowed down. It's unfortunate that a young person was killed not too long ago while riding his dirt bike on the city streets of New Haven. I can't help think how this young person might still be alive today if he couldn't race through the streets.
