The following is an email I sent to NOAA in reference to our local weather radio signal.
" New Hanover 037129 Winnabow 162.550 KHB31 1000

This frequency has been on the "blink" for at least the past week or so. Sometimes offline for several hours at a time. One day it was offline for about the whole day. On my NOAA Midland Weather radio and on the local TV station (6.2) WECT Weather TV. This frequency comes in with extreme static and sometimes is off completely which allows the nearby South Carolina Frequency to reach Wilmington. Several times the South Carolina frequency issued warnings that prompted my wether radio to go into alert mode. This was confusing. Just wondering if any else has reported this and is anything being done to solve the problem. If not is there an explanation as to why the frequency is very poor. If there is an emergency, (i.e.) Tornado Warning for New Hanover county and the signal is down or with extreme static how are we suppose to be alerted? This could be a safety issue. This has been ongoing for sometime and could pose a hazard to all of the people who rely on weather radios. It is even bad on the WECT Channel 6.2 Weather. If this could be forwarded to one of the WECT First Alert Meteorologists it would be appreciated. By the way you guys are doing a great thing for the community when you do weather radio Wednesday thanks a lot!
