The answer is to design the street to reduce thru-traffic and eliminate truck traffic — NOT removing these speed humps, which have made our streets safer. Multiple residents have already expressed to the city that these speed humps have made things safer for us.

These speed humps have slowed traffic down considerably on a street with a school. Perhaps rather than complaining about the noise from trucks going over the speed humps, the person reporting this should be asking the city to do more to get rid of the trucks that are illegally using this street. Multiple neighbors have asked the city to do something about the trucks. It also doesn’t help that NJDOT has pushed the traffic from all the suburbs onto our street.

Removal of speed humps is not the answer.

I have lived here for twenty years. So i know about people speeding down st pauls. There has to be some better solution. better designed speed humps. The noise now is insane. Anytime a heavier truck or car arent careful or even a ups truck drives over them them sounds like something exploding. Impossible to work from home, impossible to not be woken up from it etc. My windows are in front of them as are many other families. They need to do something better. As I said I am well used to city noise. This hump noise of metal and truck bed hitting at full force is just insanity! completely understand what you mean moira about slowing people down. Maybe they simple can do those the slimmer humps instead of asphalt? I simply dont know.

The city wont do anything about trucks its a city wide issue. Also it is not just heavy trucks. It can be a car scarping its whole undercarriage or even a rattling USPS, Amazon, UPS,FEDEX delivery vehicles. My point is the humps were not made very well. Could be placed differently... really is a nuisance when your windows are directly in front of them.

I am researching this issue and will respond as soon as possible.

Also please replace the street. I understand there are 3 speed bumps on this stretch of road, but the hideous half assed asphalt job from prior construction jobs make the speed bumps into like 10!

The speed humps on St. Paul's were highly sought after by the community and residents who live on the block to help slow traffic down and will remain. They were completed to city and state standards and have all proper advanced warning striping and signage.

Not asking to remove the speed bumps, instead asking for repavement of the street then reinstalling the speed bumps. The uneven surface along with speed bumps makes that street very uncomfortable to drive through.
