we have been monitoring this and unfortunately we have beavers in the area that are blocking the outfall, we have cleared the debris on several occasions this week and the Beaver come back each night, I will be looking into what we can legally do to control this Beaver activity.
Oh man. Obviously, you have to do what you have to do, but I love that we have beaver, otters, turtles, and great blue heron inhabiting our little pond. I don't want to see them go.
The beavers have been in the pond for at least 10-15 years because that is how long I have been seeing them so they are established and should probably be left alone.
in the 30 years I have worked for the DPW we have not had beavers attempting to block the outfall at the southern end of the pond, we will monitor the situation and clear the outfall as needed but we will not disturb the beaver hut at the northern end or harass the beavers, hopefully during the summer as the level of the pond goes down the beavers will not be triggered to try and block it.
