Lights on 306 should definitely be re-timed. Even during non-rush hour, traffic pattern is similar.. You move a few feet and get stopped by another red light. I had hoped once they finished working on the intersection things would change.

I talked with the city about this yesterday. According to the person I talked to, the city was still waiting for ODOT to turn the control of the freeway ramps over to them. The person said that the contractor had not completed all work at the intersections and that it was affecting the flow of traffic along 306. They did say that ODOT should be finishing their work soon and that changes to the timing could then be made.

The most frustrating part of this is that it has been going on for 3 yrs. I think we have suffered long enough.

I thought it was standard practice now to get traffic to stop at every traffic light. You know, so they can look around at the businesses and maybe decide to shop. Traffic lights are there to regulate traffic so other traffic can flow, but it seems they just regulate, if not restrict traffic. We have an intersection in Elyria that if you catch the red light you sit 2 minutes, so that traffic from the left goes, then from the right, then oncoming, they you go - and the real kicker is there are green arrows there, but why, when no traffic heads at other traffic? If the city paid for the amount of gas wasted there each day they'd fix it in a heartbeat.

Longer than 3 years. I voiced my concern to the Mentor City Engineer 5 years ago...response: too bad, pound salt, the timing of the lights are fine. Another reason I avoid Mentor at all costs.

if youve got bumper to bumper traffic from rt. 2 to 84 during rush hours every single day, youve got a light timing issue. at least during peak hours the lights should be readjusted to be green longer for north-south 306 traffic.

I agree 100%. Last week I considered calling the city because it is bumper to bumper from 90 at 306 north to Mentor on the Lake after work. It takes 15 minutes from the I90 exit to route 2 and then all the traffic moves quickly. No accidents, just red light after red light. The same goes for the morning traffic. It takes 15 minutes to get 3 miles to 90 freeway and 10 minutes doing the speed limit to get to Mayfield Road. Something is definitely wrong with this picture. I thought once 306 was widened, it would be perfect and it is absolutely horrible. I am so happy to see that I am not the only one that feels this way. Now, if someone would do something about it , that would be even better.

Yep! ? Every morning I have an extra twenty minutes I have to give up just sitting and waitng for the lights to turn green. I bet if just one city official had to go through this every morning, something would get done a lot sooner! Oh wait, they probably don't go to work that early.

Carol, you are sooo right. They told us 3 yrs to fix the freeway and the feeder roads...ie 306. Well...it is now 3 yrs and we have had ENOUGH!!!!

Make it a toll road (exempt if you live in Mentor) and traffic will clear up.

A little hyperbole goes a long way.
