Sitting between Abbot Square Entrance and Rite Aid Entrance, is a man who says "spare change" each time you pass, every day. Recently he has become more verbally confrontational. This is a residential neighborhood. Is there any way to discourage panhandlers? Are the police aware that they can do something to help the people who live here?

Today, 9-11-14, around 3:30 pm, a very aggressive pair of panhandling scam artists, a young African American male and female in their 20's, entered a food establishment in the 400 block of South Street, blocked a female diner into the corner seat where she was sitting, and asked for money. They refused to move out of this position when the patron politely stated that she did not wish to speak to them, and when asked to back away they again initially refused to budge and continued to speak aggressively to the seated woman. The pair exited the establishment but returned one minute later and resumed speaking aggressively to the woman, including berating her for refusing to give them money. The male was slender, bearded, and dressed in feminine clothing, including a multicolored striped sweater and jeans. The female was wearing a tank top and jeans, wearing pointed shoes, and carrying a beige handbag. The pair were last seen heading east on South Street around 3:45 pm, just after the incident, toward the 300 block of South Street. They were captured on video in the store's surveillance system as well as in two photos by bystanders. Has anyone seen or interacted with a pair fitting this description? The panhandlers began with a standard type of panhandling story that included the claim that the male's sister needed money to get home. Approach with caution.

Still panhandling, still aggrestive. Makes a bad impression on visitors and is a daily hassle for citizens.

Problem solved for me when I moved out of the neighborhood. Problem still exists though.
