Description
The speed limit on this road is 25MPH, cars usually go 35-40 and drive way to fast for this area. There are a lot of children that play and cross this road. I have lived here 9 years and I am always worried that a child is going to get hit one of these days. Other parents on my street have the same concerns. Is there a way to get a speed sign that tells how fast cars are going? Or more speed limit signs along this road? I would like to see more speed awareness, so cars will SLOW down. Thank you!!

The last time I collected traffic volume and speed data was in fall of 2019. The average speed was 24mph for southbound and 20 mph for northbound. The 85th percentile speed was 32 for southbound and 29 for northbound. 85th percentile speed is defined as the speed +at or below+ 85% of vehicles in the traffic stream travel. It is +NOT+ the average speed of 85% of drivers. This is a common engineering statistic used to weed out the outliers; a vehicle making a turn movement or parking, a vehicle determined to drive recklessly or an errant reading.
If you feel that speeds have changed since then, I can take fresh data. Please reach out to me directly at 801.568.2991 or bward@sandy.utah.gov, and we can discuss if you'd like fresh counts further.
