In a storm the entire south side of the street fills with water until it overflows to the north side (although the catch basin appears clear at street level). It has been in this condition for at least two months. I called and left a message on the DPW phone during a weekend storm about two months ago, but no fix yet).
Location note: the drain is in front of 48 Quincy St, not 41 Quincy. This site's location selector gave me 41 Quincy based on a mouse click on a map without offering a choice to confirm or correct it.
The DPW informed me that they thoroughly cleaned the catch basin yesterday and that this should help moving forward. Let me know if it doesn't. Gary Christenson
As of Wed 7 pm and Thurs 9 am the catch basin is barely draining water. When I came home from work Wed eve it was not raining so drainage patterns were easily visible -- almost nothing going down the South side catch basin. The north side is draining rapidly Thurs am. An abutting resident told me that earlier this year a town pressure-washer-type attachment broke off inside the drain which is probably why this attempt to clear the drain did not succeed or not last a full day. Anonymous, you are correct. I was informed later today that the street will need to be dug up to truly get at the source of the problem which is a cracked pipe. In the meantime, the DPW is going to monitor in an attempt to alleviate future problems until the pipe is repaired. Gary
