Description
300+ yards of dumped wrecked cars, car parts, a boat, furniture, mattresses, close to a dozen shopping cart, and thousands of pounds of trash and waste, at west side of Beach Street extending south from the 580 overpasses to 34th Street and beyond. Hundreds of feet of the BNSF/UPRR chain link fence along that length has been demolished by squatters and vandals, turning the adjacent BNSF track area to the west into a perpetual dumping machine. Neither the City nor BNSF/UPRR has done a thing about it. How about starting by closing the lawless wastelands, repairing the fening and re-establishing civil order and sanitation?

This is Carol Fife’s district lCFife@oaklandca.gov
CM Carroll Fife in an interview aired on KTVU 2 April 11th, 2022, regarding the on-duty security guard for one of Oakland’s community cabin sites on the 3400 block of Mandela Parkway for homeless people who was shot and killed last Thursday and the man from the homeless camp on Wood St. who ran across the street with a pick axe and started smashing a car with somebody in it.
We were told that she was not aware of either incident.
She said, “we could be doing much more on how we address these issues”
We were told she said the City council creates policy but does not have the power to enforce them, and that she needs the support of the City, the County and the State to address the problems like homelessness and mental illness.
She said, “I beg the business community let’s organize, I hear you and I feel you because umm.. it’s challenging.”
