In any event, I think its questionable to stick a campaign sign in front of somebody's house without asking the owner (whether or not its in the public ROW, it gives the maybe-false appearance of that owners support).
I remember this being addressed once before in the independent... 'technically' it is illegal to post signs on public property (grass between the sidwalk, curb and street; on telephone poles/trees, etc.) or on private property without permission.
