The "Next Train" sign on the Vienna Metro platform has not worked since the beginning of spring. This sign has two lighted directional arrows which point to either side of the platform and are supposed to direct you to side of the platform the next train is supposed to arrive at, thus preventing a last minute rush of people to the train from the opposite side of the platform. I call it Metro's version of Russian Roulette. It was annoying at first but now I get the impression they really don't care that it doesn't work. It can sometimes be a safety issue if the platform is full and a big rush of people come in from behind you and nudge you closer to the edge.
