Description
people making a left hand turn from the southbound lane of Sewells Point Rd, onto East Princess Anne Rd do not yield to on coming traffic from Norfolk Industrial Park. The perfect fix to this would be to add a left hand turn lane at this intersection along with a left hand turn signal. I have personally seen TOO MANY CLOSE CALLS!

Currently there is a joint City/VDOT construction project underway at this intersection that will add a protected eastbound left turn phase on southbound Sewells Point Road.
The project is anticipated to be complete by November 2011.
An additional turn lane is not being constructed due to insufficient right of way. Adding an additional lane would negatively impacting the adjacent private property owners at this intersection, and was not a considered as a viable option with the project. The City of Norfolk and VDOT are hopeful that the protected traffic signal movement will address your concerns. Upon completion of the project, the City of Norfolk will continue to monitor traffic conditions at the subject intersection.
Thank you for your interest in improving the City of Norfolk and its transportation network.

I have to literally stop my car in the intersection to keep from having an accident with these left hand turn drivers.
These drivers are not yeilding to the right away of on coming traffic from Norfolk Industrial Park.
There is plenty of room for a left hand turn lane at this intersection.
