I'm not talking about current "known" lane closures, I'm talking about an example of Friday, Sept. 9th, morning when the west bound right lane of RT 2 was closed from 44 to Heisley and caused major back ups and numerous people to be late for work as a result. I'm not sure how this example was not random when this lane is currently open today, the very next day, and had been open previously. As a common courtesey, these lane closures during rush hour need to be reported to the public ahead of time. Tax payers, the people driving on this freeway every day, which is almost 100% under construction in Lake County, need to be aware of these delays so that we can plan on it. How hard is it to put up one of the marquee signs the day beforehand that warn there will be a lane closed these hours on this day and to expect delays or to notify The News Herald so that they can publicize it? There are signs that say to slow down, hang up and look up, but not to warn of possible lane closures?! As I recall, at the start of the construction there was this courtesey. Not so much anymore.

I owuld have to agree also.....I had no idea and I had a dr's appointment I was almost late too....Good thing I left extemely early. They should be working on this at night if they are behind. I dont understand either why they are working in parts. It would be common sense to start at one end and continue on in a straight path instead of "lets start construction at the beginning, skip a couple of miles and then start again. I understand that the 3 or 4 lanes will not be utilized right away but make some sense out of this mess. Also, it was my understanding that there would be 3 lanes.....So where in the world is this extra lane going to pop up in Mentor? It doesnt look like you can fit another lane there unless of course you take away the breakdown lane.

I would also like to know why is it that when the random lane closures do occur during morning rush hour, THERE ARE NO FRIGGIN CONSTRUCTION WORKERS, VEHICLES, ETC ANYWHERE????? This has happened to me the last 4 Fridays in a row and there is NEVER anything going on other than the lane being closed. Doesn't appear to be any recent work done either so I ask you WTF??????

Everyone agrees, but it is up to ODOT to force the contractor to maintain reasonable traffic flow. Call ODOT District 12 and complain everyone!

Not Random

Can we see some progress here? How about finish one section before you tear up the whole freeway and just let it sit, doing nothing on it but making everyone miserable. Yet another winter we will spend with the freeway torn up. How many more years will it take?
