sellwood bridge serves more of clackamas county than multnomah coumthy so why should we of mulnomah county pay for repairing/replacing a bridge few of us use when those it benifites most are unwilling to help pay for it. if the bridge is unsavfe just close it that will solve the clogged trafic and those who use it most can then use the ross island bridge or cross the river on the i205 bridge in oregon city and get to down town portland by hwy 43 through lake oswego whitch ever is more convienient.solving two problems one traffic congestion in sellwood and money to repair/replace the bridge.
na I was just responding to the person who posted #124452 Poor traffic design on sellwood bridge. It has been a traffic bottle neck for years and yes I know that they have scheduled to build a new bridge next year which will not help the traffic at all unless you ride a bicycle or mabee ride the buss which both have dedicated lanes in the new bridge but as I understand no additional lanes for cars. even if there is tacoma street is still just a two lane street. Its probably too late for anyone to get smart and cut off the funding for the new bridge and just close the old one.
DD877 Amen just eliminating the bike lanes would save a bundle of money and they don't pay a dime of road tax to support all the special lanes, crossings, etc.
