The bottom floor is an ironworks shop, with an entrance on 11'th street.
The second floor, with an entrance on Ridge, is, unfortunately, a brothel. A while back (6 years ago, Ithink), they were shut down as part of a large FBI investigation which targeted 70(!) brothels engaged in human trafficking in the northeast. Since then, they have reopened and been shut down many many times. I am not sure which phase they are in right now, but I have noticed more people going in and out, so I am assuming it has reopened.
Wow. I walk past that building everyday. Perhaps since it's always daytime, I've never noticed any brothel activity. I always assumed that there were apartments there. Which reminds me, several months ago, there was this strange nozzle protruding from a 2nd floor window. One day, I was doused with water from that nozzle and I thought someone was pulling a prank, but then I walked to the other corner and noticed that the water would trickle out in pattern, like every 20-30 seconds. It hasn't done that lately. I'm still wondering what in the world was going on up there when this happened to me.
Yeah that neighborhood has tons of those "massage parlors", they have been there for years. They open and close to keep the cops confused. One may be in operation when they are working on the new one. Then when the heat comes in they move on. I have buddies that go there after a late night of drinking.
I like that part of town, with the with all the parlors and halfway houses you wonder how the neighborhood can survive. I bet all the folks that bought in thinking it was the next big thing are sad right now. Their tax abatments are running out and they may even be under water on thier house. It's gonna take a long time to clean it up.
If that were my block I'd clean up the trash and call about that brothel every day! Some people just want to complain I guess.
If you are looking for more brothels check the back of the City Paper. They accept advertisments from these businesses. Check the addresses, you'll find more than this one in your area.
