Description

DANGEROUS SITUATION INSIDE and OUTSIDE OF THE HOUSE + OWNER HAS NO INSURANCE

also asked...
Q. What is the issue (check all that apply)?
A. Inhabited, Uninhabited, Vagrants present
Q. Please provide the location or directions to the concern.
A. The house at 110 Sea Shell presnts a very DANGEROUS SITUATION has NO INSURANCE. My concern is for the Port Authority being sued for injuries, but far more significant is the possible loss of life. This house and the detached apartment are both in a far too neglected state and dangerous to be lived in. The place doesn't come close to meeting the code. Only one person is living in the house; the remainder is empty. The wiring is in a terrible condition, bare wires, an AC compressor that leaks, there is an open shaft inside the house, rat droppings around and inside, a diesel fuel smell coming from a generator, and a garage facing the beach that has a broken door and has vagrants coming and going from the looks (syringe and garbage). When i was there upon an invitation for the day, part of entry gate was broken so access for emergency vehicles would be an issue in case of fire or injury. The house looks good on the outside, but the inside is a death trap. It is my understanding the person that owns the home rents a portion of the property (former guest house) that doesn't meet code and doesn't meet requirements to be used as hotel or even B&B. The main house is empty with the exception of one room that occupies one room. Insepctors should force the owner to allow inspection and demand repairs be made and insurance (at least liability) be purchased.
