While on W MacArthur Blvd at the Fairview intersection heading towards Bear Street at 9:30 PM 9/11/11. No cars were on MacArthur Blvd either way at the intersection. I proceeded when the light turned green, the light IMMEDIATELY turned yellow and then RED prior to me crossing the South Fairview intersection, the original cars waiting at the intersection during their green light waited and gave me additional time to cross the street. The farthest righthand lane on Fairview, on my right hand side, was empty during the red light and did not have a car stopped waiting during the green light, but when I was crossing this lane I was nearly struck by an oncoming vehicle. This driver failed to realize all other cars on the road were stopped at the green light. Please fix this intersection all all other intersections that may have similar issues with insuffiencient time for cyclists to cross when no other cars are present.
